Dec 17: You Know You’re a Health Foodie When…
Miss Carissa over at Fit to Indulge says:
YOU KNOW YOU’RE A HEALTH FOODIE WHEN…
” …you read Cooking Light at the gym”
“I was on the treadmill the other night and realized everyone around me had like People magazine and I was thumbing through Cooking Light planning my weekend meals
“
Yesss, cooking magazines and the Food Network are definitely guilty pleasures of mine at the gym too! Great for multi-tasking and makes time fly by!
I know Carissa and I aren’t the only ones who do this…c’mon don’t be shy…who else out there does the same thing??
+ + + + +
I’m putting together some fun new recipes (…and a top secret video) today, can’t wait to share them with you all soon!
A question for you: What’s you’re favorite ingredient to cook with?
Someone asked me this and I thought it would be easy to answer but it actually took me a while to think about. My final answer was GARLIC. In my opinion, Alice May Brock said it best: “Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek. Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good.”

Cinnamon! Definitely cinnamon!
Oh I totally am guilty of this at the gym, I feel like people must think I’m nuts for thumbing through recipes while everyone else is reading about fashion/running/etc!!! Ah well, to each their own
Garlic = agreed. You put it best girl!
lol. I usually go with gossip mags at the gym., but this one is cute. My favorite ingredient to cook with is basil. I’m usually adding basil to everything if I can.
I so agree!!–My older brother made some home-made guac with dinner last night and although it was extremely delicious and fresh, I may have commented on how it could have used some garlic!!!!! hahah, i’m obsessed, clearly.
haha! I love Cooking Light! My fave ingredient? Oh bother…that’s a HARD one! Sweet potatoes…cheese…chili powder, peanut butter…not all in the same dish, of course!
nuts.. and onions.. and eggplants..omg.. i can’t come up with a fav.. lol
and i wish i could read but can’t cos the only equipment i have at home is my treadmill. and you know how hard it is to read on a treadmill (unless you’re walking)
haha i would definitely fall off a treadmill if i attempted to read!
What a great, and totally true quote!
I have to say that my fave ingredient (or at least top 3) is pumpkin! I’ve always loved it stirred in oatmeal, and lately am stirring it into plain yogurt, smoothies, anything I can get my hands on!
I’m hoping to try a few recipes with pumpkin for more savory dishes in 2010!
And I love when the channel at the gym is on the food network!! Everyone else probably hates it since it makes them hungry. hahaha
ooh pumpkin is a great choice!
