Dec 8: You Know You’re a Health Foodie When…

2009 December 8

The lovely Jessica from How Sweet It Is says:

YOU KNOW YOU’RE A HEALTH FOODIE WHEN…

“you make a list of all the foods you are interesting in baking, and hope to complete 56 foods in 2 days.”

Guilty! I have a 300-page Microsoft Word document with more than 500+ healthy recipes I’ve saved to try (including a ton from Miss Jessica herself!)

I think I may have another New Year’s Resolution to add to the list: Make a recipe book and attempt to cook new recipes from it each week!

How do you manage your list of recipes you want to try?  Do you plan meals each week, or just kind of wing it?

I am soooo disorganized when it comes to recipes!! When I see one I want to try I usually email it to myself – my inbox is packed! I don’t use recipes to cook for everyday meals, but on a special occassion I pull one out of the archives :O).

That was too funny! My recipes are all over the place-in books, on cards…..but none of them are organized in any sort of fashion. I’m definitely a planner though, when it comes to making meals. I plan them one week in advance! It sounds psycho, but it works for me and the hubby.

I have a pantry shelf devoted to my cookbook collection yet I still use Google as my go-to recipe finder! I have a “recipes” file in my bookmarks… oodles of good finds. Most of them I have yet to prepare. On weekdays I stick to basics, but weekends (especially these chilly ones) I pull out the pots and pans for some therapeutic gourmet time. :)

Hahah I have another one – you know you are a health foodie when you beg your brother’s new girlfriend to steal 2 ripe avocados for you since they are non-existent in the winter months where you live…

Haha, I always love these. Thanks for sharing :)

I have a binder of recipes, that is categorized. Although, within each category, things are kind of shoved in there at the moment. I need to do a little recipe binder cleanup!

I used to just throw things in the cart when I was shopping. However, doing that, we wasted way too much food and money. So now, I am attempting to select a few recipes per week to buy the ingredients for. It is working great!

Ah I love this!! I actually have a looooong list going of recipes/meals or snacks I wanna make when home over break, which means i’m always wanting to cram 20, 30 + recipes into a several day period!! Its madness, but so fun :)

I’m very excited for winter break though, since I’ll have almost a month to get my cooking on!!! hahaa…
