Simply Savor Breakfast Sundae & a Visit from the Stonyfield Farm Fairy
Chocolate and vanilla for breakfast? Seriously, how good does that look?
But first, let’s backtrack. After noticing my interest in baking with yogurt (a great way to cut down added fat and calories), the wonderful Stonyfield Farm people (Hi Kristina!) contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying some of their products…of course I said yes!
I was so excited when this package arrived at my doorstep from the Stonyfield Farm fairy, complete with a handwritten note!
So I went right out and picked up these little guys…
Stonyfield Farm Organic Lowfat Yogurt
Flavors: Peach, Strawberry Pomegranate, Blueberry![]()
And my cooking weapon of choice: Stonyfield Farm’s OIKOS Nonfat Greek yogurt
Flavors: Vanilla, Strawberry, Plain

I must have been dreaming of banana splits last night because I woke up craving one for breakfast. I decided to come up with the next best thing using my new goodies!
A Simply Savor Breakfast Sundae
Ingredients:
1 small banana
5 oz. Vanilla Oikos Greek yogurt
Frozen pineapple (defrosted)
Frozen strawberries (defrosted)
1 tbsp granola
1 tbsp chopped walnuts
1 tbsp dark chocolate chips
Step 1: Slice banana and layer it on the bottom
Step 2: Layer 1/3 container of Vanilla Oikos over bananas
Step 3: Top with pineapple slices
Step 4: Layer #2 of Vanilla Oikos yogurt
Step 5: Top with strawberries
Step 6: Add rest of Vanilla Oikos yogurt, sprinkle of granola+walnuts, and I threw some chocolate chips into the mix as well (…because it’s Friday)
VOILA!
This did the trick and completely satisfied my morning sweet tooth in a healthy way. I’ll definitely be making more of these in the future. I’ve already been brainstorming other mix-ins: honey, peanut butter, blueberries, maple syrup, strawberry yogurt, pumpkin, trailmix…
What would you guys put in your Simply Savor Breakfast Sundaes?

In other news, I saw the movie Julie and Julia last night. I also read the book and am planning to do a full review of the two in my next post. But I knew I couldn’t do a review without trying my hand at a French recipe so I’m letting you all decide…
Which Julia Child recipe would you most like to see me recreate?
1) Chocolate Mousse
2) Rasberry Bavarian Cream
3) Chocolate Souffle
4) Reine de Saba (Chocolate Almond Cake)
I’m up for the challenge. Do you guys think Stonyfield Farm Greek yogurt can replace the butter in these desserts?

I vote for the chocolate almond cake. Only because I’d like to see how the yogurt did with it. Oh, wait, maybe the chocolate mousse instead. Or both?
I’m interested in seeing how the yogurt is with these recipes too! Maybe I’ll have to make them all
Oh my goodness–your blog is absolutely beautiful! I am so glad you found my blog and commented because now I get to read yours. Wow! The colors are so light and inviting and the content is awesome…I am about to dive into the rest of your posts right now.

Oh, I love Stonyfield! What a great surprise
That breakfast sundae looks divine…I would definitely do mine with: banana on bottom, oikos on top, some nature’s path vanilla almond granola, agave nectar on top of the granola, more oikos, blueberries on top with a drizzle of agave! Ah, yum!!
And as for the desert…I would love to see you bake the chocolate mousse or the Reine de Saba!
Have a wonderful Friday!
Yummmm! The yogurt with pineapples looks delicious! I love pineapples, I’ve never thought to add it to yogurt!
I vote for the RASPBERRY BAVARIAN CREAM!
Oh my goodness, your breakfast looks so wonderful. I’ll have to try that.
I’d like to see either the Bavarian cream or the chocolate mousse. Both look delicious.
That looks awesome Kristen!!
Thanks Zest!
Hi Kristen, I am new to your blog and love it!
I love your breakfast sundae! I would love to see the Reine de saba!
Hi Priyanka, thanks for commenting and I’m so glad you like the blog! That’s 2 votes now for the reine de saba so we’ll have to wait and see if there are more
the suspense…
My first choice is the almond cake, then the mousse.
I will have to try your breakfast.
girlfriend you are the yogurt QUEEN! whowza – everything looks incredible!
though i wouldn’t complain about seeing any of those recipes — i think the chocolate souffle looks exceptionally scrumptious
The cake! The cake! The cake!
Breakfast looks delish and oh so beautiful. As for the J&J recipe… soufflé all the way
Oh wow – that yogurt sundae looks soooo good! If I’m in the mood for something sweet tomorrow morning I’m definitely going to try that!
Love the breakfast sundae! Anytime you have breakfast in a wine glass, it’s a good thing!
lol i couldn’t agree with you more
Oh- I vote for the chocolate almond cake!
Hey Kristen, just discovered your blog and have been thoroughly enjoying the posts I’ve read so far! Looking forward to more in the future! As for the Julia Childs thing…
Make all of them! And I’d say use the butter. Personally, I think dessert should be enjoyed for its true flavor but in moderation.
So glad you’re enjoying reading! And I completely agree with you about everything in moderation. Maybe i’ll do a comparison of the two recipes (with and without butter) Thanks Sean!
